What are you reading? What did you read last? What are you going to read?
Right now I'm just starting Les Chants de Maldoror... Which is about as dense as it is awesome. It's a prose poem that sort of biographies evil. It's super surreal, and very much inspired by Baudelaire (whom I adore). A cool read full of very interesting musings and beautiful language. I wanna start a Sludge project with the texts as my conceptual/lyrical basis. Would be awesome.
Annnnd I just finished reading Cat's Cradle but Kurt Vonnegut, which is an awesome satire of everything. Very funny, witty, unique account of the end of the world. It's a quick read (I read it in one day for various reasons) so if you want something short and sweet, definitely pick this up.

Warcraft Archive.
the four original tales set in the world of Blizzard Entertainment's epic game series.
haven't quite gotten into it yet, looking forward to the epic talez.
after that I'll probably get to Salvatore's "Hunter's Blades Trilogy" and Douglas Coupland's "Microserfs."
and as always, I'll be delving into Roman and Norse mythology.

I last read The Snake Oil Wars by Parke Godwin. Amazing book with references to many a famous figure in history.
I'm finishing up Path of Daggers by Robert Jordan, the eighth book in his 12 book series.

Currently I'm reading Bram Stoker's Dracula (almost done with it) and Swedish Death Metal by Daniel Ekeroth (about half way through it).

Last thing I read was the last half of the poetic Edda, I'm reading the prose just now (to refresh my mammary lololol), and the next thing I'll be reading is the poetic again.

Currently reading The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish, as well as a volume called The Portable Nietzsche. Both are pretty good.

Re: What are you reading? What did you read last? What are you g
I'm hopping in between Orwell's 1984, two books on Europe (one basically giving a short run on basic influences of Europe and the other one is a behind-the-scene-sketch), Bram Stoker's Dracula (I really should finish it sometime soon, it's been months), Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Asimov's Foundation. From time to time I grab back to my Satanic Bible for a smile or two.

Re: What are you reading? What did you read last? What are you g
Haha. It's not really anything I'm ashamed of. Although it is a bit weird to read now that I've learned halfway in-depth about Nietzsche in college. What Lavey has done is pretty much dig out strong nihilism and added (with great taste, I have to admit) dramatics. The reason I grab back to it really is the way he writes. He leaves double bottoms all over the place, fools around with nuances and humour in such a way that it nearly becomes a pretty dangerous book in case you'd take it literally (gay).Actumen wrote:loool the satanic bible. I hate to say I dont really read much, but...
I dont really read much.
Like, Im not an illiterate shithead, I just dont find books interesting enough. Id rather lie on my couch listening to my iPod full blast for an hour than read for an hour tbh.
Last book I read was probably Tell No One by Harlen Cobin. Amazing book. Probably the only good book Ive ever read. If you ever see it around, pick it up. Its a pretty short read, but the story reads like a movie, which I liked.

Finally fucking finished Path of Daggers and moved on to Winter's Heart, which'll probably take me forever because for some reason I'm not in a reading mood half the time I get time to read it.

No change, I'm moving pretty slow, the Cavendish book can be dreadfully interesting or godawful dry and boring depending on the subject.

just bought several books. mostly pulp magazine era short story collections from Robert E. Howard (got the remaining two Conan collections I didn't have), Dashiell Hammett (probably most famous for the Maltese Falcon), Achmed Abdullah, and I got a couple Talbot Mundy novels.

like I said before, it's pretty nonsensical and you have to have some knowledge of the occult, things like numerology, symbology, tarot, the Qabal... etc.Myrkwood wrote:Kyle wrote:I was reading a bit of The Book of Lies by Aleister Crowley this weekend for a bit of a mind bender and wonder.

What'd you think of Cry, The Beloved Country?
Re: What are you reading? What did you read last? What are you g
It was an amazing book.
Absolutely amazing. It's very, very sad. The movie stars James Earl Jones as Kumalo, and is very accurate.

I don't think Behind the Wall of Sleep is in this collection I have, oh well, I plan on getting more Lovecraft anyway and more horror/weird fiction in general.

I finally got around to reading the Prose Edda, next is Poetic Edda, then A Darkness Forged In Fire... then I have to go through a pile of books that I bought on impulse. Book stores make me poor.
Or maybe I'll just read The Name Of the Wind again.

^You'll most likely end up reading the prose multiple times before you decide to finish the poetic, unless of course, you've got one hell of an attention span.

Reading The Curious Tales of Old West Yorkshire. A book about some strange things, strange people, strange occurrences, and customs of west Yorkshire in the 17-19th centuries. Really interesting and good read and (I guess) this is where The Lamp of Thoth first read about their namesake?
