I know you wanted some straightforward stuff but Lunar Aurora and german Trist are both really good ambient BM, the latter being mainly an ambient deal. Trist's Hin-Fort is an incredible album.

Ooooh lemme add a secondary request for ambient BM to my wants as long as we're on the topic. I do have a huge soft spot for Velvet Cacoon and a few other albums that are slipping from my memory at the moment.

I know I've heard Hin-Fort before but not in a long time. I'll definitely download it again.

I would've mentioned Nae'blis but I usually just keep that in the DSBM department since DSBM, even being ambient/BM can have such a different sound.

Great recs so far, I'll add Paysage d'Hiver's Nacht to it, it has always stood out more than the rest imo. For Darkspace, I would definitely kick off with Dark Space II. It embraces their main style PERFECTLY. Definitely seconding Verdunkeln's Einblick ... It's one of the few albums I bought the second I recognised its cover.

As for basic stuff, idk how basic basic is but;
Bathory - The Return, Under the Sign of the Black Mark and Blood Fire Death are quintessential
Darkthrone - Panzerfaust (a bit of an incohesive album but it has some of their greatest songs), Under A Funeral Moon and A Blaze In The Northern Sky
Burzum - Filosofem and Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
fuck all the rest of the secondwavers, imo

kvlt stuff;
Kaltetod - Leere
Pest (Ger) - Vado Mori
Mgla - Groza, Mdlosci
Kriegsmaschine - Altered States of Divinity
Angantyr - Haevn
Zuriaake - Afterimage of Autumn
Abusus - Licht, Gedanken und Lieder
Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God, Ultima Thulee
Sarcofago - INRI
Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom
Dark Tribe - In Jeraspunta - Die Ruckkehr Der Tollwutigen Bestie
The Axis of Perdition - Deleted Scenes From the Transition Hospital
Procer Veneficus - Of Starfire and Blackwater Crawling
Black Funeral - Waters of Weeping, Ordog
Order From Chaos - Stillbirth Machine
Nordlicht - Nebelmeer
Krieg - Destruction Ritual
Armagedda - Only True Believers
Lik - Besvärtade Strofer
Ancient Rites - Evil Prevails
Anal Vomit - Demoniac Flagellations
Caïna - Mourner, Some People Fall
Forgotten Tomb - Songs To Leave
I Shalt Become - Wanderings

Some extras bolded for moar emphasis. Also you probably already got it but make sure you pick up the pre-I Shalt Become recordings of Birkenau. The production value of the Birkenau is much better (IE MOAR TR00) than the I Shalt Become re-recordings.

I was thinking of an album that you definitely need to listen to, too, but I forgot which one.

edit: oh lol. Beherit's Drawing Down the Moon. If it clicks, it's a great album. Same with Havohej's Dethrone the Son of God (I VOMIT ON GOOOOOD'S CHIIIILD!1!!).

Why not? It's fairly easy. I deleted about thirty gigs of music, most of which was black metal. I found it to be an easy start to search for new branches.

PFFFT PUSSIES MY COMPUTER REALISED MY OLD COLLECTION WAS SO UNKVLT AND FULL OF POPULAR WANKERY THAT I PLUGGED IT IN ONE DAY AND MY COMPUTER DID A MURDER-SUICIDE! SINCE THEN I HAVE SUICIDED ALL MY MUSIC AND SACRIFICED HALF MY FILES TO AMENHOTEP IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE KVLTEST OF KVLTLLEKTIVNS!

Srsly though. My computer kinda did murder-suicide itself. My USB ports are broken so you can plug in USBs upside down, which causes power failures... And I did that with my HD which caused the HD to crash permanently and my computer to shut down. Since then I deleted a bunch of useless files off my computer and did an HD clean and I'm pretty content with my 12 gigs of music + 20 gigs of free space.

Edit: Also, today is DOWNLOAD POWER HOUR! because next week I start my, more or less, two week long college tour if things go as planned. So keep rec'ing me black metal and sludge metal (In that other thread) pls!!!!!!!! Also maybe a bit of HxC too though I think I'm set on that with Kange's 200 part Nuggets collection.

I remember the Iron Hand of Blackest Terror (or was it the other way around?) being a pretty fucking solid album. At times I regret having deleted that much music. :(

^I never cared much for that release, their first two demos + the "Lucifer's Dawn" EP is where they really shine though.
Great stuff.

But get the demo instead of the full-length, if you can. It's more distorted and lo-fi without ruining the music itself, whereas I found that this value was lost on the full-length production.

The main guy of Anti is in Darkestrah. You should get their first album, whatever it's called again, and maybe Epos.

You still need Argentum's Ad Interitum Funebrarum, man. Absolutely fantastic doomy Black from somewhere in the Latin Amerikans. I was amaaaaazed to find an original copy in my local store of this.
